Street plagued with rubbish after 25 missed bin collections

A raft of missed bin collections have left piles of stinking rubbish to build up on a Birmingham street.

Residents at the end of their tether say they have even confronted bin crews over the situation and claim 25 collections have been missed in the past four months alone.

Those living on the street say when bins are emptied on Woodall Road the excess bags piling up are simply left.

Kamran Kamali who has complained to Birmingham City Counci l on several occasions told BirminghamLive : “They missed it this week and they might come next week, but they won’t take the overflow of other weeks.

“When the rubbish gets stacked up you can imagine there is smells, flies, maggots and cats ripping into the bags.

“I don’t know where to start and it’s been going on for years. It keeps reoccurring.

“It’s no secret that we live Aston which is an underprivileged area so it adds to the low opinion to the area.

“There’s children who want to play outside and parents want to push prams and there is a over flow of bins on the streets. We have to put bags on the floor.”

A Birmingham City Council spokesperson said: “We apologise for any missed collections. There can be a range of factors that contribute to this such as vehicle breakdowns or an inability to access roads due to accidents and parked vehicles.

“We are looking into the cause in this case, will be getting the missed waste cleared and arranging for someone from the local depot to visit to see if the residents affected may qualify for a bigger bin, available to larger families who generate more waste.”
