The quietest times to go shopping in the Bullring

As we career towards the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, it’s time to start thinking seriously about the Christmasshopping.

While more people than ever are buying gifts online, it’s still nice to get out to the shops to see things for yourself before you purchase.

But that doesn’t have to mean getting caught in the throng and spending hours queuing – particularly in these Covid times as the Government is asking people to take lateral flow tests before hitting the shops.

Thanks to Big Brother… or rather, Google… it’s possible to see when the Bullring‘s busiest times are.

Data gathered by Google Maps shows us that people typically spend 25 minutes in the Bullring when they visit.

It also shows us what time people visit and, as such, we can work out the best time to go if you want to avoid crowds.

Here’s what we found:

When is the Bullring at its busiest?

On Mondays, the busiest time to visit is around 1pm, though Google still says this is ‘usually not too busy’.

Getting there before 11am and after 5pm is your best bet if you want to avoid the crowds on a Monday.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are much the same – early in the morning or later in the afternoon are the quietest times.

By Friday, foot traffic is up but the same applies – there are fewer people around before 11am and after 6pm.

Saturdays are typically the busiest day at the Bullring.

Between midday and 5pm is the centre’s busiest time, with the peak coming at around 2pm.

If you want quieter Saturday shopping, you’re best to visit before 11am or after 6pm.

Sundays are a little less frantic – it is the day of rest, after all.

The peak comes again at 2pm, so visiting before midday or after 3pm gives you the best chance of a quiet shopping experience.
