Who’s in The Larkins cast as The Darling Buds of May gets new ITV remake

Bradley Walsh is a golden-hearted wheeler-dealer in The Larkins, a new remake of the iconic ITV series, The Darling Buds of May.

Based on H.E. Bates’ classic novel, the upcoming series will follow in the footsteps of the much-loved original 90s’ series by focusing on the adventures of Ma and Pop Larkin and their six children.

The new comedy-drama series will feature six episodes and promises to bring all the “warmth, optimism and escapism of the Larkin family for a modern generation”.

Who is in The Larkins cast?

Bradley Walsh will be swapping The Chase for The Larkins this autumn, as he plays head of the family and renowned wheeler-dealer Pop Larkin, a role made famous by Only Fools and Horses legend Sir David Jason.

The British actor and TV presenter can also be seen in the previous two series of Doctor Who, and was recently spotted in Wales potentially filming for Jodie Whittaker’s final episode.

Walsh’s son Barney will also star in the series as a local policeman.

Starring opposite Bradley Walsh is The Thick of It’s Joanna Scanlan, who takes over from Pam Ferris as the family’s matriarch, Ma Larkin.

The multi-award nominated actress and screenwriter is also known for her roles in Getting On, Puppy Love and No Offence, and has starred in films like Bridget Jones’ Baby and The Invisible Woman.

Sabrina Bartlett will play The Larkins’ eldest daughter Mariette, the role that launched Catherine Zeta-Jones’ career 30 years ago.

Bartlett is best known for her role as Bridgerton’s Siena Rosso, an opera singer who was in a secret relationship with Anthony Bridgerton in season one of Netflix’s hit historical fiction series.

Actor Peter Davison, the fifth Doctor Who, played the Time Lord between 1981 and 1984.

Doctor Who alum Peter Davison will play a gossip-loving vicar in The Larkins.

Davison is best known for his role as the Fifth Doctor, and has also starred in several popular TV shows including Vera, Call the Midwife and Grantchester.

When is The Larkins on ITV?

Fans have been eagerly awaiting The Larkins’ ITV premiere, and luckily there isn’t long left to wait now.

There is no confirmed air date for The Darling Buds of May remake as of yet, but a teaser for the upcoming series revealed that it’s due to show on ITV and ITV Hub in October.
