Wolves fans thrilled for Conor Coady as he is rewarded by Gareth Southgate

Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady is set to start for England this afternoon when they take on Andorra.

Coady, 28, was promised a sixth international cap by manager Gareth Southgate in front of around 65,000 supporters at Wembley.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this will be the first time the Wolves captain will have the chance to represent the Three Lions in front of home fans.

Speaking to the media ahead of the match, he said : “It is incredible to hear that [Southgate feels he is a vital member of the squad], to be honest with you.

The defender will have his family watching on from the Wembley stands for the first time.

The Old Gold supporters have taken to social media to react with delight about the news and wish their captain well.

One said: “Prove yourself lad.”

Another added: “Captain fantastic.”
